Cancer is a term used to describe the process where the cells in our body are damaged in a way that they do not grow and multiply normally.  They can then develop into tumours.  There are different types of tumours but the cancerous tumours are known as malignant tumours.

Can diet help?
Diet can help with Cancer in 2 ways:

  1. Nutrition can help to prevent some kind of Cancers (for example our fruit and vegetable intake and fibre have a role in preenting bowel cancer)
  2. It can help manage your Cancer and particularly some of the side effects of treatment.  These include poor appetite and weight loss that often follows, and taste changes, problems with swallowing and chewing, nausea and vomiting, constipation and diarrhoea.

If you would like to see a Dietitian to discuss your diet in more detail, then Search for a Dietitian in your area to chat further.
